I tend to think most curry udon tastes the same, but I really enjoyed how creamy and light it was. Personally, I liked mixing the cream into the curry mix below. It gave rich taste to the sauce. As for my friend he ordered the Katsu and he also enjoyed it as well. It wasn't too overly dry or overcooked. Overall, great experience and good food! ”

“ Kobe Gyukatsu is a great place to get your Japanese-Korean fusion food fix in Buena Park. Food: 4/5 + Chicken Cutlet Combo + Cream Curry Udon The cream curry udon is one of my absolute favorites to get whenever I visit and it comes piping hot in very big portions. (I think personally you can share it among 2-3 people if you get 1 more dish.) The curry is just divine underneath topped with tender beef chunks; although I would say it's very satisfying at the start to mix the cream and curry together for the perfect combination. My only gripe about this dish is I feel like it's severely lacking in appropriate amount of udon noodle. Most of the time, we'll just have curry left and to be honest it's too rich to eat it alone and better paired with some starches like rice or noodle. I also tried the Chicken Cutlet combo this time which was decent, although since I've been to Tokyo twice this year, I don't think the quality or freshness compares. That being said, the panko covering offers a nice crunchy texture and the meat is still pretty juicy. I think the sides could have been more fresh. Service: 5/5 At busy hours, parking here can be a struggle. It's a very small lot located next to a gas station. However on a week day around 5pm we didn't have any issues with finding parking. (I also came here on a Saturday lunch and had a completely different experience.) I recommend carpooling if you are planning on visiting here with friends due to the limited capacity for parking. Tables are clean and establishment is quiet save for other parties having conversation. In addition, service is kind and receptive. ”

“ It's usually so hard to eat here because the parking lot is tiny. But I went today during a weekday lunch, and it was practically empty. The restaurant is unassuming, essentially a shack next to a gas station. You'd probably drive right past it if you weren't looking for it. I usually get the premium gyukatsu (which is delicious), but I tried getting the normal beef gyukatsu to see what the difference is. The difference is exponential - I wish I just paid the extra money to get the premium one. The beef gyukatsu is expensive no matter what, so I feel like if you're going to get it, you might as well shell out the extra $15 to get the premium one. The regular is still enjoyable and comes as a whole lunch set. You get rice, slaw, miso soup, and dipping sauces. It's just kinda pricey for what it is. I liked the onion rings. The shell has a slight crisp to it and gives way to a chewy texture inside. It's also surprisingly light. The dipping sauces are good as well. The cream curry udon was ok. ”

“ Delicious food and presentation! We came right at opening time so there wasn't a crowd. Service was quick given that we were the only ones there that early. Luckily, we paid attention to the TV which was showing the different ways you can eat the gyukatsu. In addition to the tasty beef gyukatsu, we ordered the kelp egg as suggested on the TV video. It went well with the meat! We also got the cream curry udon which also went well with the beef. Overall, it was a very new dining experience for me, and I really enjoyed it! ”

“ Kobe Gyukatsu is a mix of Japanese Korean style food, and it's been so delicious every time I've visited! My boyfriend and I were seated right away and immediately brought menus. I ordered the cream curry udon and my boyfriend ordered the gyoza and curry chicken katsu. The food came out within 15 minutes, and it was piping hot! My curry udon stayed hot for the entire duration of my meal (not warm, HOT! It was still steaming by the time I was done with it!) and it was phenomenal. There are large chunks of beef and a good serving of noodles and veggies. It's a very filling dish. The service was really good. We never had to ask for water refills or anything, they were super on top of it. It wasn't super busy when we went, but still it was very appreciated. The music wasn't too loud so it was a nice environment to chat in or catch up with someone in. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm meal without breaking the bank. The food quality for the price is really good! I look forward to coming back again. ”

“ Loved everything we ordered! We got: - Beef gyukatsu - the gyukatsu meat was thinner than what you'd find in Japan but still tender and delicious with all the sides. The wasabi sauce that comes with the gyukatsu was soo good. I normally don't love wasabi-flavored things but this was the perfect mild wasabi flavor for me and it paired so well with the meat - Stir-kimchi cream men - looks super creamy on top but once you stir it, you see the kimchi noodles underneath and it was exactly what I imagined a creamy kimchi udon would taste like - Buckwheat soba noodles - my sister in law said this is the best soba she's had! It was the right texture and the noodles were flavorful with the sauce I came here once before and thought it was okay but coming this time, everything we got was great. It isn't cheap, but we would come back since we really enjoyed our meal. There was plenty of seating space with no wait at lunch time when we came. ”

Food (5/5) - For a special occasion this time I had good reason to try the Premium Gyukatsu set and it was phenomenal! Also ordered the regular beef set and it was flavorful and tender as expected. Everything that comes in the sets always tastes fresh and pairs so well together. Always been my perfect comfort meal. Service (5/5) - We visited during early lunch hours on a Wednesday and it wasn't very busy, however, the nice (and only) lady working was very quick and helpful during our visit. Ambiance (5/5) - The dining area is a bit small in an overall small building that thankfully has its own dedicated parking. This isn't a negative to me - they still provide a classic Japanese restaurant vibe that is clean, intimate, and overall fun eating environment/experience. ”

The dish includes udon noodles, beef, and vegetables in a cream sauce. It was my first time trying this dish after seeing it all over social media this past year, and I'm happy to say it lived up to the hype. The sauce was different; it was thicker than what I'm used to from Asian restaurants while still maintaining a subtle taste of curry. The creaminess of the sauce comes from the use of cooking cream, or alternatively, evaporated milk. So you can imagine how thick the sauce coating the udon noodles was.
